Howdy do folks?

Don’t you just hate going to a website and seeing outdated news plastered all over the home page? Yep, we lower our heads in shame. We have actually been busy doing what genuinely busy people do.. work, not eating cereal or playing angry birds on the iMac *rolls eyes*. Also just to let you know, we’ll be launching our new site very soon which is why we’ve kind of neglected this old dog sad to say.

We’re happy to announce the launch of nikejemiyo.com. Nike, who is the 4th most viewed British artist on YouTube, hired happy2host to design and develop her website. We were quite chuffed to say the least . So, we got to work and did her proud!

The World has lost one of greatest inventors

I awoke this morning to exhortations, and heart felt messages filling my twitter timeline and news plastered allover my daily dosage of discovering whats new in the world via king Google. Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, (in my eyes one of the greatest inventors of all time) is dead.
His creation which has spanned worldwide, crafted by his labyrinth of an imagination and his continual recycling of a new tide embodied in that distinctive Apple design (you know the look) will continue to live on amidst the millions if not billions of people who are proud owners of some product prefixed by the ‘i’.
I don’t know who is going to sit in the hotseat at Apple or where the next Steve Jobs will come from, but whoever and wherever he or she may be, they’ve certainly got their work cut out for them.

While some may be distraught about the loss of a poineer, others grip onto a statment made by Jobs back in 2005, “Death is a destination we all share.. its cleans out the old to make way for the new..”, the rest simply look back on his life and accomplishments and remain greatful for where we are today.

Two and a half men

We at happy2host were huge fans of the very funny comedy sitcom that was Two And A Half Men. Since the unfortunate exit of Charlie Sheen as Charlie Harper, we’ve been anticipating the return of the show with the arrival of Ashton Kutcher, who we’re guessing is to play Charlie Harper. Very useful stuff for web designers

As a web designer you tend to learn new tricks that help speed up the process (desperately searching for the word I picked up in Year 11 Science that perfectly describes what I’m saying here) of design, like a catalyst (found it). The efficiency of the design process best allows the designer to produce ideas quickly and more effectively, not forgetting little things like grouping, consistency in spacing and padding, picking the right colours etc etc.

So we thought we’d lend a hand in letting you know of a few useful tools available for free online for you to store in your bookmarks:

placehold.it – create placeholders for images quickly and simply copy and paste the into you design
lorempixum.com – why spend time looking for images, only to have to resize them to fit into your design? Use this easy online tool to fish out random images in the exact size you want
Google web fonts – embedding fonts online just got easier . Check out Google’s wide array of fonts that can be displayed in your browser, yes even IE!
jQuery – Designers, do NOT become a developers nightmare. Designer-developers do NOT become your own nightmare. Check out some of the cool easy-to-install plugins available on this site. Also use Google to check out more.. Don’t just design without taking into consideration whether features you’ve simply dropped in are doable or not!

memoires of my childhood

Back in my day I was the proud owner of the Sega Mega Drive and needless to say wished they’d make a few games that were out back then, now. These would include fantastic titles such as the Streets of Rage series, Sunset Riders, Golden Axe, Micro Machines.. oh yes Micro Machines.. Anyway I was trawling through YouTube (as you do) and thought to myself ‘let me find some of those great 1st level tracks’. On my trawling I came across this very impressive remake of the first stage music from Sunset Riders. Absolutely love it.

Blackberry’s Firing Shots!

..just in case you didn’t know..

I think they deserved to take a shot at ‘other tablets’ for not having flash. Blackberry’s Playbook is going to make sales through the roof! Even if it is their only selling point (which it isn’t), we at Happy2host are definitely going to be proud owners of one. We love Flash!

Google features…

Thanks to Calvin Harris, we were able to catch another Google feature, this time it was interactive. YEP! Spent about 30mins strumming the strings on the Google guitar making beautiful music. Well I guess thats equivalent to a cigarette break (if you smoked like 20 cigs within that one break haha).
